GoldVet Polydioxanone or PDO Veterinary suture is monofilament synthetic absorbable suture is prepared from the polyester, poly(p-dioxanone). Polydioxanone polymer has been found to be nonallergenic, nonpyrogenic and elicits only a slight tissue reaction during absorption.
In vivo performance of absorbable sutures is described by tensile strength retention and absorption rate (loss of mass). PDO suture has been formulated to minimize the variability of these characteristics and to provide wound support through an extended healing period. The retention strength of the polydioxanone suture is more than 65% of the initial strength after 28 days.
